Serra Erie Blog

The word that best describes Saint Junipero Serra is "Zeal". It was a spirit that came from his deep prayer and dauntless will.

The Corona Virus: No Match for Prayer

Serra Club Members are committed to engaging in prayer each day. We strive to entwine our time of prayer with all other aspects of our day-to-day lives. As the world takes on a challenging fight against the Corona Virus let us remember that while much of our lives are shut down... The Corona Virus is no match for Prayer!

The Corona Virus cannot keep us from praying. In fact, it provides an opportunity for us to expand our prayer life. The Corona Virus has changed some of the worldly ways in which we interact with one another. Although we are unable to physically embrace our loved ones, we are always able to embrace them with our loving prayers. Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, reminds us, “Our hearts can always be in the same place, centered on God”.

The Serra Club of Erie invites you to join us in prayer. Ask God to protect and assist the many people who are suffering illness and grieving loss. Also, remember to capitalize on the positive byproducts of this crisis. Focus on God’s love and cherish the simple things in life: family meals together, time for quiet reflection, and family prayer and devotions.

In addition to this blog post we have included a Spiritual Communion Prayer provided by the Erie Diocese and links to the websites of the Erie Diocese, the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Sisters of Mercy. Each of these websites addresses the virus and its impact. We urge you to visit all of these sites to fully appreciate just how the Erie Catholic Community is responding to this crisis.
