Four committed Catholic laypersons recently joined the Serra Club of Erie. They are Bernadette Carroll and David F. Stadler, both parishioners at St. George Parish, Stephen Dvoranchik of St. Francis Xavier Parish, and Peter Piotrowski of Our Lady of Peace Parish.
Three of the new Serrans were sworn in by club chaplain, Rev. Scott Jabo, at the club's monthly general meeting in February.
"The best way to get more vocations to the priesthood and religious life," said Tom Guelcher, president of the Serra Club of Erie, "is to ask God for them. That's what members of our club do. Each of us pray daily for a specific seminarian or woman going through the discernment process. We also promise to go to one extra Mass per month to pray for vocations and to pray for our clergy and consecrated religious."
Serra is an international organization of Catholic lay men and women who vigorously respond to the call to promote and support vocations to the ministerial priesthood and consecrated life in the Catholic Church. More information about the Serra Club of Erie can be found here: www.serraerie.org, along with membership application forms.
