On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Erie Serrans met at Our Lady of Peace church and participated in their annual retreat led by the Reverend Scott Jabo. It was the most well-attended annual retreat to date. Father Jabo’s wonderful topics included the call to holiness, biblical foundations, church teaching, holiness in daily prayer, common obstacles and misconceptions, paths to holiness, Saints as models, hearing God's call, and discernment. Father Jabo listed eight (8) discernment tools that a disciple of Christ can use in the strengthening of vocations. These included daily prayer, eucharistic adoration, Lectio Divina (sacred reading), spiritual direction, journaling, the Rosary, discernment retreats, and community feedback. Father Jabo also emphasized the Serra Club's threefold mission to: (1) promote new priesthood and religious vocations, (2) support and affirm existing priesthood and religious vocations, (3) and in doing so to grow in our own holiness. Father Jabo quoted Saint Junipero Serra as saying…."Always forward, never back.” Father ended the amazing fellowship retreat by reminding all the Erie Serrans that the four (4) Serra Club pillars include Prayer, Awareness, Affirmation, and Support.
